Qatar Airways Introduces Starlink Connectivity on Cape Town-Doha Route

Starting June 1, Qatar Airways passengers flying between Cape Town and Doha will experience Starlink’s cutting-edge internet connectivity, offering ultra-fast and complimentary Wi-Fi for streaming, gaming, and work at 35,000 feet. This service will be available on select flights operated by the airline’s newly introduced Boeing 777, alongside its existing Airbus A350.

The introduction of Starlink is part of Qatar Airways’ ongoing effort to equip its fleet with advanced connectivity, with the Boeing 777 fleet nearing full Starlink roll-out. Additionally, Qatar Airways becomes the first airline to offer Starlink on its Airbus A350, setting a global precedent for in-flight internet.

As the largest carrier in the MENA region to offer complimentary Starlink Wi-Fi, Qatar Airways provides passengers with the fastest onboard internet service. The airline operates the world’s largest fleet of Starlink-equipped Boeing 777s, with a frictionless ‘one-click-access’ feature for easy connection to the free Wi-Fi, enhancing its renowned five-star onboard experience.

The Cape Town route launch coincides with Qatar Airways’ 20th year of operations in South Africa, underscoring the airline’s ongoing expansion and investment in the country. In addition to the Wi-Fi service, Qatar Airways has also recruited talented chefs from Capsicum Culinary Studio, introduced popular African flavours on-board, and strengthened its partnership with South Africa through its investment in Airlink.

Qatar Airways currently serves Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg with up to 28 weekly flights, connecting South Africa to its global network of over 170 destinations. The airline’s Africa-wide summer capacity averages more than 44,000 seats per week, reinforcing its commitment to connectivity across the continent and beyond.
